有话说,人若休妻,妻子离他而去,作了别人的妻子,前夫岂能再回到她那里么?若回到她那里,那地岂不是大大污秽了么?但你和许多所爱的人行邪淫,还可以归向我;这是耶和华说的。

试问:若男人离弃了自己的妻子,她离开他而另嫁了别人,前夫岂能再回到她那里去?像这样的女人,岂不是已全被玷污了吗?你已与许多爱人行淫,你还想回到我这里来吗?──上主的断语──

永恒主的话传与我(参耶2:1加上的),说:“人若把妻子离出去,而妻子离开他而去,做了别人的妻子,她哪能再回转来归前夫呢?(传统:他哪能再回去找她呢?)那么那妇人(传统:那地)岂不是大大被玷污了么?然而你,你和许多情人行淫,还要回转来归于我?永恒主发神谕说。

If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and marries another man, should he return to her again? Would not the land be completely defiled? But you have lived as a prostitute with many lovers- would you now return to me? declares the Lord .

Then Jehovah said to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen what Israel the apostate has done? She went up on every high mountain and under every flourishing tree and committed fornication there.

The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

And Jehovah said unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen what backsliding Israel hath done? She hath gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath committed fornication.

And Jehovah saith unto me, in the days of Josiah the king, 'Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? She is going on every high mountain, and unto the place of every green tree, and committeth fornication there.

During the reign of King Josiah, the Lord said to me, "Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree and has committed adultery there.

And I said, After she has done all these things, she will return to Me; but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

I thought that after she had done all this she would return to me but she did not, and her unfaithful sister Judah saw it.

And I saw that because of all the adultery that Israel the apostate committed I divorced her and gave her a certificate of divorce, yet her sister Judah the treacherous did not fear but went and committed fornication also.

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and committed adultery.

And yet in spite of all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to Me with all her heart, but instead falsely, declares Jehovah.

And Jehovah said to me, Israel the apostate has shown herself to be more righteous than Judah the treacherous.

And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.

And Jehovah saith unto me: 'Justified herself hath backsliding Israel, More than treacherous Judah.

The Lord said to me, "Faithless Israel is more righteous than unfaithful Judah.

Go and proclaim these words to the north, and say, / Return, O Israel the apostate, declares Jehovah; / And I will not let My countenance fall toward you; / For I am merciful, declares Jehovah; / I will not keep My anger forever.

Only acknowledge your iniquity, / That you have transgressed against Jehovah your God / And have turned your ways here and there to strangers under every flourishing tree, / And have not listened to My voice, declares Jehovah.

נִשְׁכְּבָ֣ה בְּבָשְׁתֵּ֗נוּ וּֽתְכַסֵּנוּ֮ כְּלִמָּתֵנוּ֒ כִּי֩ לַיהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֜ינוּ חָטָ֗אנוּ אֲנַ֨חְנוּ֙ וַאֲבֹותֵ֔ינוּ מִנְּעוּרֵ֖ינוּוְעַד־הַיֹּ֣ום הַזֶּ֑ה וְלֹ֣א שָׁמַ֔עְנוּ בְּקֹ֖ול יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ ס
