And when the days of feasting ran their course, Job would send word and sanctify them; and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, Perhaps my children have sinned and have cursed God in their heart. Job did this continually.

When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom.

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־הַשָּׂטָ֖ן מֵאַ֣יִן תָּבֹ֑א וַיַּ֨עַן הַשָּׂטָ֤ן אֶת־יְהוָה֙ וַיֹּאמַ֔ר מִשּׁ֣וּט בָּאָ֔רֶץ וּמֵֽהִתְהַלֵּ֖ךְבָּֽהּ׃

And Jehovah said to Satan, Where have you come from? And Satan answered Jehovah and said, From roving the earth and going about in it.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

And Jehovah said to Satan, Whence comest thou? And Satan answered Jehovah and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, 'Whence comest thou?' And the Adversary answereth Jehovah and saith, 'From going to and fro in the land, and from walking up and down on it.'

The Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the Lord , "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

雅威问撒但说：“你曾用心察看我的仆人约伯吗？地上再没有人像他．完全且正直，敬畏神，远离恶事。”

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־הַשָּׂטָ֔ן הֲשַׂ֥מְתָּ לִבְּךָ֖ עַל־עַבְדִּ֣י אִיֹּ֑וב כִּ֣י אֵ֤ין כָּמֹ֨הוּ֙ בָּאָ֔רֶץ אִ֣ישׁ תָּ֧ם וְיָשָׁ֛ריְרֵ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְסָ֥ר מֵרָֽע׃

And Jehovah said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job? For there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

And Jehovah said to Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God and abstaineth from evil?

And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, 'Hast thou set thy heart against My servant Job because there is none like him in the land, a man perfect and upright, fearing God, and turning aside from evil?'

Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."

Then Satan answered Jehovah and said, Does Job fear God without cause?

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

And Satan answered Jehovah and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

And the Adversary answereth Jehovah and saith, 'For nought is Job fearing God?

Does Job fear God for nothing? Satan replied.

你岂不是四面圈上篱笆围护他和他的家，并他一切所有的么？他手所作的，你都赐福；他的家产也在地上大大增多。

הֲלֹֽא־אַתְּ שַׂ֣כְתָּ בַעֲדֹ֧ו וּבְעַד־בֵּיתֹ֛ו וּבְעַ֥ד כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־לֹ֖ו מִסָּבִ֑יב מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה יָדָיו֙ בֵּרַ֔כְתָּוּמִקְנֵ֖הוּ פָּרַ֥ץ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

Have You not set a hedge around him and his household and all that he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his possessions are spread throughout the land.

Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is spread abroad in the land.

Hast not Thou made a hedge for him, and for his house, and for all that he hath -- round about?

Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.

你且伸手，碰他一切所有的，他必当面咒诅你。

וְאוּלָם֙ שְֽׁלַֽח־נָ֣א יָֽדְךָ֔ וְגַ֖ע בְּכָל־אֲשֶׁר־לֹ֑ו אִם־לֹ֥א עַל־פָּנֶ֖יךָ יְבָרֲכֶֽךָּ׃

But stretch forth Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

But put forth thy hand now and touch all that he hath, [and see] if he will not curse thee to thy face!

The work of his hands Thou hast blessed, and his substance hath spread in the land, and yet, put forth, I pray Thee, Thy hand, and strike against anything that he hath -- if not: to Thy face he doth bless Thee!'

But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."

雅威对撒但说：“看哪，凡他所有的都在你手中；只是不可伸手加害于他。”于是撒但从雅威面前退去。

And Jehovah said to Satan, Here is all that he has, in your hand; only do not stretch forth your hand against him. And Satan went forth from Jehovah's presence.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, 'Lo, all that he hath is in thy hand, only unto him put not forth thy hand.' And the Adversary goeth out from the presence of Jehovah.

The Lord said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord .

A messenger came to Job and said, The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys were feeding beside them;

And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

And there came a messenger to Job and said, The oxen were ploughing, and the asses feeding beside them;

And a messenger hath come in unto Job and saith, 'The oxen have been plowing, and the she-asses feeding by their sides,

וַתִּפֹּ֤ל שְׁבָא֙ וַתִּקָּחֵ֔ם וְאֶת־הַנְּעָרִ֖ים הִכּ֣וּ לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב וָֽאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה רַק־אֲנִ֛י לְבַדִּ֖י לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃

And the Sabeans fell upon them and took them away, and they struck the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to relate these things to you.

他还说话的时候，又有人来说：“迦勒底人分作三队忽然闯来，把骆驼掳去，并用刀杀了仆人；惟有我独自逃脱，来报信给你。”

While this one was still speaking, another came and said, The Chaldeans formed three companies and raided the camels and took them, and they struck the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to relate these things to you.

While this one was still speaking, another came and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their firstborn brother;

不料，有大风从旷野那边刮来，吹袭房屋的四角，房屋倒塌在少年人身上，他们就死了；只有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。

不料有狂风从旷野刮来，击打房屋的四角，房屋倒塌在少年人身上，他们就都死了；惟有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。”

没想到有一阵狂风，从旷野那边刮来，吹袭房屋的四角，房屋倒塌在他们身上，他们就都死了，只有我一个人逃脱，来向你报告。”

忽然从旷野那边吹来一阵飓风，刮倒了房屋的四角，压死了你的孩子，只有我一人幸免，来向你报告。”

忽有大风从旷野那边刮来，击打了房屋的四角；房屋倒塌在青年人们身上，他们就死了；只有我一人逃脱、来向你报告。”

不料，有狂风．从旷野刮来，击打房屋的四角，房屋倒塌在少年人身上，他们就都死了；惟有我独自逃脱，来报信给你。”

וְהִנֵּה֩ ר֨וּחַ גְּדֹולָ֜ה בָּ֣אָה׀ מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַמִּדְבָּ֗ר וַיִּגַּע֙ בְּאַרְבַּע֙ פִּנֹּ֣ות הַבַּ֔יִת וַיִּפֹּ֥ל עַל־הַנְּעָרִ֖יםוַיָּמ֑וּתוּ וָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה רַק־אֲנִ֛י לְבַדִּ֖י לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃

And suddenly a great wind came from beyond the desert and struck the four corners of the house, so that it fell upon the young people and they died; and I alone have escaped to relate these things to you.

约伯便起来，撕裂外袍，剃了头，伏在地上敬拜，

Then Job rose up and tore his clothes and shaved his head and fell to the earth and worshipped.

说，我赤身出于母胎，也必赤身归回。赐给的是耶和华，收取的也是耶和华；耶和华的名是当受颂赞的。

说：“我赤身出于母胎，也必赤身归回。赏赐的是耶和华，收取的也是耶和华；耶和华的名是应当称颂的。”

说“我赤身脱离母胎，也要赤身归去；上主赐的，上主收回，愿上主的名受到赞美！”

说：“我赤身出母腹，也必赤身归回；永恒主赏赐，永恒主取去；愿永恒主的名受祝颂。”

说：“我赤身出于母腹，也必赤身归回；雅威赏赐，雅威也取回。雅威的名是应当称颂的。”

וַיֹּאמֶר֩ עָרֹ֨ם יָצָתִי מִבֶּ֣טֶן אִמִּ֗י וְעָרֹם֙ אָשׁ֣וּב שָׁ֔מָה יְהוָ֣ה נָתַ֔ן וַיהוָ֖ה לָקָ֑ח יְהִ֛י שֵׁ֥ם יְהוָ֖המְבֹרָֽךְ׃

And he said, / Naked I came out of my mother's womb, / And naked I will return there. / Jehovah gives and Jehovah takes away; / Blessed be the name of Jehovah.

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

and he said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: Jehovah gave, and Jehovah hath taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah!

and he saith, 'Naked came I forth from the womb of my mother, and naked I turn back thither: Jehovah hath given and Jehovah hath taken: let the name of Jehovah be blessed.'

and said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."

在这一切的事上，约伯并不犯罪，也不以神为行事失当。

In all this Job did not sin, nor did he charge God with unseemliness.
