Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will let you hear My words.

So I went down to the potter's house, and he was there doing work at his wheel.

R
But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter's hand; so he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good for the potter to make.

R
Am I not able to do with you, O house of Israel, as this potter does? declares Jehovah. Indeed, as the clay is in the hand of the potter, so you are in My hand, O house of Israel.

O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does? declares the Lord . "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

At the moment that I speak about a nation or about a kingdom, to pluck it up or to break it down or to destroy it,

At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

At the moment that I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to break down, and to destroy,

The moment I speak concerning a nation, And concerning a kingdom, To pluck up and to break down, and to destroy,

If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed,

我所说的那一邦，若是回转离开他们的恶，我就必后悔，不将我要行的灾祸降与他们。
和
我所说的那一邦，若是转意离开他们的恶，我就必后悔，不将我想要施行的灾祸降与他们；

如果我论到的那一邦转离他们的恶行，我就必回心转意，不把我原定的灾祸降给他们。

但是我要打击的民族，若离弃自己的邪恶，我也反悔，不再给她降原定的灾祸。

R
And if that nation concerning which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will repent of the evil that I intended to do to it.

If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

And at the moment that I speak about a nation or a kingdom, to build it up or to plant it,

他们若行我眼中看为恶的事，不听从我的话，我就必后悔，不将我所说使他们得益的美福赐给他们。

R
And if it does evil in My sight by not listening to My voice, then I will repent of the good with which I said I would benefit it.

现在你要对犹大人．和耶路撒冷的居民说：雅威如此说：‘我发出灾祸攻击你们，定意刑罚你们。你们各人当回头离开所行的恶道，改正你们的行动作为。’”

וְעַתָּ֡ה אֱמָר־נָ֣א אֶל־אִישׁ־יְהוּדָה֩ וְעַל־יֹושְׁבֵ֨י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗ר כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנֵּ֨ה אָנֹכִ֜ייֹוצֵ֤ר עֲלֵיכֶם֙ רָעָ֔ה וְחֹשֵׁ֥ב עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם מַֽחֲשָׁבָ֑ה שׁ֣וּבוּ נָ֗א אִ֚ישׁ מִדַּרְכֹּ֣ו הָֽרָעָ֔ה וְהֵיטִ֥יבוּ דַרְכֵיכֶ֖םוּמַעַלְלֵיכֶֽם׃
R
And now speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says Jehovah, Look, I am forming evil against you and devising a plan against you. Return now, each one of you from his evil way, and amend your ways and your deeds.

Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.

And now, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I prepare evil against you, and devise a device against you: turn ye then every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.

And now, speak, I pray thee, unto men of Judah, And against inhabitants of Jerusalem, Saying: Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am framing against you evil, And devising against you a device, Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way And amen your ways and your doings.

Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, 'This is what the Lord says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.'

וְאָמְר֖וּ נֹואָ֑שׁ כִּֽי־אַחֲרֵ֤י מַחְשְׁבֹותֵ֨ינוּ֙ נֵלֵ֔ךְ וְאִ֛ישׁ שְׁרִר֥וּת לִבֹּֽו־הָרָ֖ע נַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ ס
R
But they say, It is hopeless! For we will walk after our own devices and everyone will do according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.

And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.

But they say, There is no hope; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will each one do [according to] the stubbornness of his evil heart.

And they have said, It is incurable, For after our own devices we do go, And each the stubbornness of his evil heart we do.
I
But they will reply, 'It's no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.' "

所以耶和华如此说，你们且往各国访问，有谁听见这样的事，以色列的处女行了一件极恐怖的事。

“所以耶和华如此说：你们且往各国访问，有谁听见这样的事，以色列民（原文作“处女”）行了一件极可憎恶的事。

因此耶和华这样说：“你们问一问列国，有谁听见过像这样的事呢？童女以色列竟行了一件非常骇人的事。

לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שַֽׁאֲלוּ־נָא֙ בַּגֹּויִ֔ם מִ֥י שָׁמַ֖ע כָּאֵ֑לֶּה שַֽׁעֲרֻרִת֙ עָשְׂתָ֣ה מְאֹ֔ד בְּתוּלַ֖תיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
R
Therefore thus says Jehovah, / Ask now among the nations, / Who has heard such things? / The virgin of Israel / Has done a very horrible thing.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.

利巴嫩的雪，从田野的磐石上岂能断绝呢？从远处流下的凉水，岂能干涸呢？

黎巴嫩的雪从田野的磐石上岂能断绝呢？从远处流下的凉水岂能干涸呢？

הֲיַעֲזֹ֥ב מִצּ֛וּר שָׂדַ֖י שֶׁ֣לֶג לְבָנֹ֑ון אִם־יִנָּתְשׁ֗וּ מַ֛יִם זָרִ֥ים קָרִ֖ים נֹוזְלִֽים׃
R
Does the snow of Lebanon / Leave the rock of the field? / Or will the cold flowing waters / Coming from afar be dried up?

Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?

Shall the snow of Lebanon cease from the rock of the field? Shall the cool flowing waters coming from afar be dried up?

Doth snow of Lebanon Cease from the rock of the field? Failed are the cold strange waters that flow?
I
Does the snow of Lebanon ever vanish from its rocky slopes? Do its cool waters from distant sources ever cease to flow?

我的百姓竟忘记我；他们向虚无的神烧香，在所行的路上，在古道上绊跌，行在没有修筑的小路上；

我的百姓竟忘记我，向假神烧香，使他们在所行的路上，在古道上绊跌，使他们行没有修筑的斜路，

但我的子民竟忘记我，向虚无的偶像烧香，以致他们在自己的路上、在古道上绊倒，行走小路，不是修建过的大道。

But My people have forgotten Me; / They burn incense to vanity, / And they have been stumbled in their ways / From the ancient paths / To walk on bypaths, / On a way which is not cast up,

Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;

For my people hath forgotten me: they burn incense to vanity; and they have caused them to stumble in their ways, the ancient paths, to walk in by-paths of a way not cast up;

But My people have forgotten Me, to a vain thing they make perfume, And they cause them to stumble in their ways -- paths of old, To walk in paths -- a way not raised up,
I
Yet my people have forgotten me; they burn incense to worthless idols, which made them stumble in their ways and in the ancient paths. They made them walk in bypaths and on roads not built up.

以致他们的地令人惊骇，永远被人嗤笑。凡经过这地的，必惊骇摇头。
