Now after this it came up in Joash's heart to restore the house of Jehovah.

And he gathered the priests and Levites and said to them, Go out to the cities of Judah, and collect from all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year; and you shall do the matter quickly. But the Levites did not act quickly.

于是王把大祭司耶何耶大召来，对他说：“你为什么不命令利未人把耶和华的仆人摩西和以色列的会众，为法柜的会幕规定的税款，从犹大和耶路撒冷征收回来，作修殿的费用呢？”

君王遂将大司祭约雅达召来，对他说：“你为什么不敕令肋未人在犹大和耶路撒冷捐款，像上主的仆人梅瑟为作证的会幕，向以色列会众征收？”

于是王把祭司长耶何耶大召了来，对他说：“你为什么不敕令利未人照永恒主仆人摩西为法柜的会棚对（传统：和）以色列大众所征定的捐项从犹大和耶路撒冷带来作修殿的费用呢？”

王召了领袖耶何耶大来，对他说：“…你为何不叫利未人收取，从犹大和耶路撒冷带来呢？”从前雅威的仆人摩西与以色列会众…所定的捐项，为法柜的帐幕

So the king called for Jehoiada the chief priest and said to him, Why have you not required of the Levites to bring from Judah and from Jerusalem the tax levied by Moses the servant of Jehovah on the congregation of Israel for the Tent of the Testimony?

And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection, according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness?

And the king calleth for Jehoiada the head, and saith to him, 'Wherefore hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the tribute of Moses, servant of Jehovah, and of the assembly of Israel, for the tent of the testimony?

Therefore the king summoned Jehoiada the chief priest and said to him, "Why haven't you required the Levites to bring in from Judah and Jerusalem the tax imposed by Moses the servant of the Lord and by the assembly of Israel for the Tent of the Testimony?"

因为那恶妇亚他利雅的众子曾拆毁神的殿，甚至用耶和华殿中所有分别为圣的物供奉诸巴力。

כִּ֤י עֲתַלְיָ֨הוּ֙ הַמִּרְשַׁ֔עַת בָּנֶ֥יהָ פָרְצ֖וּ אֶת־בֵּ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְגַם֙ כָּל־קָדְשֵׁ֣י בֵית־יְהוָ֔ה עָשׂ֖וּלַבְּעָלִֽים׃

For the sons of the wicked Athaliah had broken up the house of God and even used all the holy things of the house of Jehovah for the Baals.

For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow upon Baalim.

And they made a proclamation in Judah and in Jerusalem to bring to Jehovah the tax levied by Moses the servant of God on Israel in the wilderness.

利未人把银柜抬到王指定负责这事的人那里的时候，他们看见税银很多，王的书记和大祭司的属员就来把银柜倒空，然后抬回原处。天天都是这样，所以收集了很多银子。

当肋未人将钱箱抬到君王的有司那里时，见税钱很多，遂请君王的书记和大司祭的属员前来，将钱箱倒空，然后拿去放在原处；天天如此，所以收集了很多的钱。

负责人每逢把柜子抬到王的办公室由利未人经手检点，他们若见银子多了，王的秘书和祭司长的委员、总来，将柜倒光，整理整理，放回原处：天天都这样作，收集了银子很多。

无论何时．他…把柜带到王的司事面前；借利未人的手．他们(指利未人)见银子很多的时候，王的书记和大祭司的属员就来，把柜倒空，仍把它放在原处。日日都是这样做，他们积蓄的银子甚多。

וַיְהִ֡י בְּעֵת֩ יָבִ֨יא אֶת־הָֽאָרֹ֜ון אֶל־פְּקֻדַּ֣ת הַמֶּלֶךְ֮ בְּיַ֣ד הַלְוִיִּם֒ וְכִרְאֹותָ֞ם כִּי־רַ֣ב הַכֶּ֗סֶף וּבָ֨אסֹופֵ֤ר הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ וּפְקִיד֙ כֹּהֵ֣ן הָרֹ֔אשׁ וִיעָ֨רוּ֙ אֶת־הָ֣אָרֹ֔ון וְיִשָּׂאֻ֖הוּ וִֽישִׁיבֻ֣הוּ אֶל־מְקֹמֹ֑ו כֹּ֤ה עָשׂוּ֙לְיֹ֣ום׀ בְּיֹ֔ום וַיַּֽאַסְפוּ־כֶ֖סֶף לָרֹֽב׃

And whenever the chest was brought to the king's officer by the Levites, and whenever they saw that there was a large amount of money, the king's scribe and the officer of the chief priest would come and empty the chest and take it and return it to its place. They did so daily, and they collected a large amount of money.

Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought unto the king's office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.

And the king and Jehoiada would give it to those who did the work of service of the house of Jehovah, and they would hire stone hewers and carpenters to restore the house of Jehovah, and also workers in iron and bronze to repair the house of Jehovah.

וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙ עֹשֵׂ֣י הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה וַתַּ֧עַל אֲרוּכָ֛ה לַמְּלָאכָ֖ה בְּיָדָ֑ם וַֽיַּעֲמִ֜ידוּ אֶת־בֵּ֧ית הָֽאֱלֹהִ֛יםעַל־מַתְכֻּנְתֹּ֖ו וַֽיְאַמְּצֻֽהוּ׃

And those who did the work worked, and the restoration work progressed in their hands; and they restored the house of God to its proper proportions and strengthened it.

So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it.

The men in charge of the work were diligent, and the repairs progressed under them. They rebuilt the temple of God according to its original design and reinforced it.

And when they went from him — for they left him in great sickness — his servants conspired against him because of the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest and slew him on his bed; and he died, and they buried him in the city of David. However they did not bury him among the tombs of the kings.
