And when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, where he had fled from Solomon the king; and Jeroboam returned from Egypt;

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of Solomon the king, heard it, that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.

And they sent word to him and called him), Jeroboam and all of Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,

“你父亲使我们所负的轭甚重，现在求你减轻你父亲加在我们身上的劳役和重轭，我们就服事你。”

“你的父亲使我们的负担繁重，现在请你减轻你父亲加给我们的苦役和重轭，我们才肯服事你！”

“你父亲使我们的轭很难负；你呢，现在你使你父亲那令人很难作的苦工、和他所加在我们身上的重轭、轻松些吧，我们就服事你。”

“你父亲使我们的轭加重，现在，求你减轻你父亲的苦工和他加在我们身上的他的重轭，我们就服事你。”

אָבִ֖יךָ הִקְשָׁ֣ה אֶת־עֻלֵּ֑נוּ וְעַתָּ֡ה הָקֵל֩ מֵעֲבֹדַ֨ת אָבִ֜יךָ הַקָּשָׁ֗ה וּמֵעֻלֹּ֧ו הַכָּבֵ֛ד אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן עָלֵ֖ינוּוְנַֽעַבְדֶֽךָּ׃

Your father made our yoke hard. Now therefore make the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke that he put upon us lighter, and we will serve you.

罗波安对他们说，你们暂且去三日，再来见我。民就去了。

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם עֹ֛וד שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת יָמִ֖ים וְשׁ֣וּבוּ אֵלָ֑י וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ הָעָֽם׃ ס

And he said to them, Go away for another three days, then return to me. And the people went away.

And he said unto them, Come again unto me after three days. And the people departed.

And he said to them, Come again to me after three days. And the people departed.

And he saith unto them, 'Yet three days -- then return ye unto me;' and the people go.

Rehoboam answered, "Come back to me in three days." So the people went away.

罗波安的父亲所罗门在世的时候，有侍立在他面前的老年人，罗波安王和他们商议，说，你们给我出个什么主意，我好回复这民。

罗波安王和一些在他父亲所罗门在世的时候，侍立在所罗门面前的老人商议，说：“你们有什么提议，我好回复这班民众呢？”

勒哈贝罕王同那些在他父亲撒罗满生时作臣仆的老年人商议，问他们说：“你们有什么主意，叫我好答复这些人民？”

罗波安的父亲所罗门活着的时候有些侍立在他面前的老年人：罗波安王和这些老年人商议说：“你们给我出个什么主意，我好将答案回复这众民？”

罗波安王和…长老们商议，…侍立在他父所罗门面前的他(指所罗门)在世的日子，说：“你们给我出个什么主意，我好回话给这百姓。”

וַיִּוָּעַ֞ץ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֗ם אֶת־הַזְּקֵנִים֙ אֲשֶׁר־הָי֣וּ עֹֽמְדִ֗ים לִפְנֵי֙ שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה אָבִ֔יו בִּֽהְיֹתֹ֥ו חַ֖י לֵאמֹ֑ראֵ֚יךְ אַתֶּ֣ם נֹֽועָצִ֔ים לְהָשִׁ֥יב לָֽעָם־הַזֶּ֖ה דָּבָֽר׃

Then King Rehoboam took counsel with the elders who attended Solomon his father while he was alive, saying, What counsel do you give me to return as an answer to this people?

And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?

And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, How do ye advise to return answer to this people?

And king Rehoboam consulteth with the aged men who have been standing before Solomon his father in his being alive, saying, 'How are ye counselling to answer this people?'

Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime. "How would you advise me to answer these people?" he asked.

他们对他说：“你若善待这民，使他们喜悦，用好话跟他们讲，他们就永远作你的仆人。”

וַיְדַבְּר֨וּ אֵלָ֜יו לֵאמֹ֗ר אִם־תִּֽהְיֶ֨ה לְטֹ֜וב לְהָעָ֤ם הַזֶּה֙ וּרְצִיתָ֔ם וְדִבַּרְתָּ֥ אֲלֵהֶ֖ם דְּבָרִ֣ים טֹובִ֑יםוְהָי֥וּ לְךָ֛ עֲבָדִ֖ים כָּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃

And they spoke to him, saying, If you will be good to this people and please them and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants always.

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.

And they spoke to him saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.

And they speak unto him, saying, 'If thou dost become good to this people, and hast been pleased with them, and spoken unto them good words, then they have been to thee servants all the days.'

They replied, "If you will be kind to these people and please them and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your servants."

王却弃绝老年人给他出的主意，反而和那些与他一同长大，在他面前侍立的少年人商议，

王却不用老年人给他出的主意，就和那些与他一同长大、在他面前侍立的少年人商议，

王不接受这些老人的意见，却去和那些同他一起长大，侍立在他面前的年轻人商议，

但是，君王竟拒绝老年人给他出的主意，反去同那些与他一同长大，侍立在他面前的少年人商议，

王却弃绝了老年人给他出的主意，反而和那些跟他一齐长大、侍立在他面前的少年人商议，

他却撇弃长老们给他出的主意，和那些…少年们商议，跟他一起长大、侍立在他面前的

וַֽיַּעֲזֹ֛ב אֶת־עֲצַ֥ת הַזְּקֵנִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְעָצֻ֑הוּ וַיִּוָּעַ֗ץ אֶת־הַיְלָדִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר גָּדְל֣וּ אִתֹּ֔ו הָעֹמְדִ֖יםלְפָנָֽיו׃

But he forsook the counsel of the elders with which they counseled him and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who attended him.

But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with him, that stood before him.

But he forsook the advice of the old men which they had given him, and consulted with the young men, who had grown up with him, that stood before him.

And he forsaketh the counsel of the aged men that they counselled him, and consulteth with the lads who have grown up with him, those standing before him,

But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him.

说，这民对我说，求你使你父亲加在我们身上的轭轻松些；你们出个什么主意，我们好回复他们呢？

说：“这民对我说：‘你父亲使我们负重轭，求你使我们轻松些。’你们给我出个什么主意？我好回复他们。”

问他们说：“这些人民对我说：请你将你父亲加给我们的负担减轻些。你们有什么主意，好使我答复他们？”

问他们说：“这众民对我说：‘你使你父亲所加在我们身上的轭轻松些吧’：你们给我出个什么主意，我好将答案回复他们呢？”

对他们说：“你们给我出个什么主意，我好回话给这百姓，因为他们对我讲说：‘求你减轻你父亲加在我们身上的轭。’”

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם מָ֚ה אַתֶּ֣ם נֹֽועָצִ֔ים וְנָשִׁ֥יב דָּבָ֖ר אֶת־הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבְּר֤וּ אֵלַי֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הָקֵל֙מִן־הָעֹ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן אָבִ֖יךָ עָלֵֽינוּ׃

And he said to them, What counsel do you give me that we may return an answer to this people who have spoken to me, saying, Lighten the yoke that your father put upon us?

And he said unto them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people, which have spoken to me, saying, Ease somewhat the yoke that thy father did put upon us?

And he said to them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me saying, Lighten the yoke which thy father put upon us?

and he saith unto them, 'What are ye counselling, and we answer this people that have spoken unto me, saying, Make light somewhat of the yoke that thy father put upon us?'

He asked them, "What is your advice? How should we answer these people who say to me, 'Lighten the yoke your father put on us'?"

那些与他一同长大的少年人说，这民对你说，你父亲使我们负重轭，求你使我们轻松些；你要对他们如此说，我的小拇指比我父亲的腰还粗；

那同他长大的少年人说：“这民对王说：‘你父亲使我们负重轭，求你使我们轻松些。’王要对他们如此说：‘我的小拇指比我父亲的腰还粗。

那些同他一起长大的年轻人对他说：“这人民对王说：‘你父亲使我们所负的轭甚重，现在求你减轻些吧。’王要这样对他们说：‘我的小拇指比我父亲的腰还粗呢。

那些与他一同长大的少年人答说：“这些百姓曾对你说：你父亲曾加重我们的负担，请你给我们减轻些。你要这样回答他们，这样对他们说：我的小指比我父亲的腰还粗；

那些跟他一齐长大的少年人对他说：“这些人对王说：‘你父亲使我们的轭很重，你呢，你使那轭轻松些吧’：王要对他们这么说：‘我的小拇指比我父亲的腰还粗呢。

那些跟他一起长大的少年们对他说：“你要向那对你讲说…的这百姓如此说，‘你父亲使我们负重轭，求你使我们减轻些’你要对他们这样说：‘我的小拇指比我父亲的腰还粗，

וַיְדַבְּר֣וּ אִתֹּ֗ו הַיְלָדִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר גָּדְל֣וּ אִתֹּו֮ לֵאמֹר֒ כֹּֽה־תֹאמַ֡ר לָעָם֩ אֲשֶׁר־דִּבְּר֨וּ אֵלֶ֜יךָ לֵאמֹ֗ראָבִ֨יךָ֙ הִכְבִּ֣יד אֶת־עֻלֵּ֔נוּ וְאַתָּ֖ה הָקֵ֣ל מֵעָלֵ֑ינוּ כֹּ֚ה תֹּאמַ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם קָֽטָנִּ֥י עָבָ֖ה מִמָּתְנֵ֥י אָבִֽי׃

And the young men who grew up with him spoke with him, saying, Thus shall you say to the people who have spoken to you, saying, Your father made our yoke heavy, but you must make it lighter on us; thus shall you say to them, My little finger is thicker than my father's loins.

And the young men that were brought up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answer the people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.

And the young men that had grown up with him spoke to him saying, Thus shalt thou say to the people who have spoken to thee saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, and lighten thou it for us, -- thus shalt thou say to them: My little [finger] is thicker than my father's loins;

And the lads who have grown up with him, speak with him, saying, 'Thus dost thou say to the people who have spoken unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, and thou, make light somewhat of our yoke; thus dost thou say unto them, My little finger is thicker than the loins of my father;

The young men who had grown up with him replied, "Tell the people who have said to you, 'Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but make our yoke lighter'-tell them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's waist.

我父亲使你们负重轭，我要加重你们的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子鞭责打你们。

我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子鞭责打你们。’”

我父亲把重轭加在你们身上，我必使你们负更重的轭；我父亲用鞭打你们，我却要用蝎子鞭责打你们。’”

我父亲曾加给你们的重担，我更要加重你们的负担；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我却要用铁刺鞭责打你们。”

我父亲将重的轭给你们驮上，现在呢、我要使你们的轭加重了；我父亲用平常鞭子责打你们，我却要用蝎子鞭呢。’”

现在，我父亲使你们负重轭，我会加重你们的轭！我父亲用鞭子责罚你们，我会用蝎子(责罚你们)！’”

וְעַתָּ֗ה אָבִי֙ הֶעְמִ֤יס עֲלֵיכֶם֙ עֹ֣ל כָּבֵ֔ד וַאֲנִ֖י אֹסִ֣יף עַֽל־עֻלְּכֶ֑ם אָבִ֗י יִסַּ֤ר אֶתְכֶם֙ בַּשֹּׁוטִ֔יםוַאֲנִ֖י בָּֽעֲקְרַבִּֽים׃ ס

And now, whereas my father laid a heavy yoke upon you, I will increase your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

For whereas my father put a heavy yoke upon you, I will put more to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

and whereas my father laid a heavy yoke upon you, *I* will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but *I* [will chastise you] with scorpions.

and now, my father laid on you a heavy yoke, and I -- I add unto your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, and I -- with scorpions.'

耶罗波安和众百姓照着罗波安王所说，你们第三日再来见我的那话，在第三日来了。

耶罗波安和众百姓遵着罗波安王所说“你们第三日再来见我”的那话，第三日他们果然来了。

耶罗波安和全体人民都遵照罗波安王所说“你们第三天再来见我”的话，第三天来见罗波安。

雅洛贝罕和全人民照君王所说“你们第三天再来见我”的话，第三天来见勒哈贝罕。

耶罗波安和众民照罗波安王所说：“你们第三天再来见我”的那话、他们第三天果然来见罗波安了。

耶罗波安和众民…来到罗波安那里。第三日照王所讲说．“你们第三日回到我这里来”，

וַיָּבֹ֨א יָרָבְעָ֧ם וְכָל־הָעָ֛ם אֶל־רְחַבְעָ֖ם בַּיֹּ֣ום הַשְּׁלִשִׁ֑י כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֤ר הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר שׁ֥וּבוּ אֵלַ֖יבַּיֹּ֥ום הַשְּׁלִשִֽׁי׃

And Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day as the king had spoken, saying, Return to me on the third day.

So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king bade, saying, Come again to me on the third day.

And Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed saying, Come again to me on the third day.

And Jeroboam cometh in, and all the people, unto Rehoboam on the third day, as the king spake, saying, 'Return unto me on the third day.'

Three days later Jeroboam and all the people returned to Rehoboam, as the king had said, "Come back to me in three days."

罗波安王严厉地回答他们；他弃绝了老年人所出的主意，

王严厉答复了人民；勒哈贝罕王抛弃了老年人的意见，

王用严厉的话回答他们。罗波安王没有采纳长老们(给他出)的主意，

וַיַּעֲנֵ֥ם הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ קָשָׁ֑ה וַֽיַּעֲזֹב֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֔ם אֵ֖ת עֲצַ֥ת הַזְּקֵנִֽים׃

And the king answered them harshly; and King Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the elders

And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men,

And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the advice of the old men,

And the king answereth them sharply, and king Rehoboam forsaketh the counsel of the aged men,

The king answered them harshly. Rejecting the advice of the elders,

却照着少年人所出的主意对他们说，我父亲使你们负重轭，我要加重你们的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子鞭责打你们。

照着少年人所出的主意对他们说：“我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子鞭责打你们。”

却照着年轻人的主意对他们说：“我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我却要用蝎子鞭责打你们。”

依照少年人的主张答复人民说：“我的父亲加重了你们的重担，我更要加重；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用铁刺鞭责打你们。”

反而照少年人出的主意对众民说：“我父亲使你们的轭很重，我却要加重在那上头呢；我父亲用平常鞭子责打你们，我却要用蝎子鞭呢。”

(反而)照着少年们的主意对他们讲说：“我会加重你们的轭，且更加重它；我父亲用鞭子责罚你们，我会用蝎子(责罚你们)！”

וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם כַּעֲצַ֤ת הַיְלָדִים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אַכְבִּיד֙ אֶֽת־עֻלְּכֶ֔ם וַאֲנִ֖י אֹסִ֣יף עָלָ֑יו אָבִ֗י יִסַּ֤ראֶתְכֶם֙ בַּשֹּׁוטִ֔ים וַאֲנִ֖י בָּעֲקְרַבִּֽים׃

And spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, I will make your yoke heavy, and I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

And answered them after the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

and spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but *I* will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but *I* [will chastise you] with scorpions.

and speaketh unto them according to the counsel of the lads, saying, 'My father made your yoke heavy, and I -- I add unto it; my father chastised you with whips, and I -- with scorpions.'

全以色列人见王不肯依从他们，便回复君王说：“我们与达味有什么分子？我们与叶瑟的儿子毫无关系！以色列！回到你的帐幕去！达味！现在你只顾你本家吧！”于是全以色列人都回了自己的帐幕，

以色列众民见王不听他们的要求，就回答王说：“我们在大卫上有什么分儿呢？我们在耶西的儿子上并没有业份呀。以色列人哪，各回各家（传统：帐棚）去吧！大卫啊，现在只顾你自己的家吧。”于是以色列众人都回家（传统：帐棚）去了。

以色列众人(见)王不听他们，百姓就回复王说：“我们与大卫有什么分儿呢？与耶西的儿子并没有关涉。以色列(人)哪，各回你的帐棚去吧！现在，大卫啊，顾你自己的家吧！”于是以色列众人都回自己的帐棚去了。

And when all Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people returned an answer to the king, saying, What portion do we have in David?
