扫罗对背他兵器的人说：“拔出你的刀来，用它(原文用阴性，下同)将我刺死，免得那些未受割礼的人来凌辱我。”但背他兵器的人因甚惧怕而不肯；扫罗就拿刀，自己伏在它上面死了。

וַיָּ֣מָת שָׁא֗וּל בְּמַֽעֲלֹו֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָעַ֣ל בַּֽיהוָ֔ה עַל־דְּבַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־שָׁמָ֑ר וְגַם־לִשְׁאֹ֥ולבָּאֹ֖וב לִדְרֹֽושׁ׃

So Saul died on account of his unfaithfulness which he committed against Jehovah, because of the word of Jehovah which he did not keep, and also because he asked the counsel of a medium, inquiring of her.

So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;

Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord ; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance,

And he did not inquire of Jehovah; therefore He killed him and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.
