And again the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel; and he moved David against them, saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.

R
And Joab said to the king, Now may Jehovah your God add to the people a hundred times as many as they are, while the eyes of my lord the king may see it. But why does my lord the king desire this thing?

And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?

But Joab replied to the king, "May the Lord your God multiply the troops a hundred times over, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king want to do such a thing?"

大卫数点人民以后,大卫的良心一直在打击他;大卫就对永恒主说:“因我所行的、我大大犯了罪了。永恒主啊,如今求你不追究你仆人的罪愆;因为我干了极糊涂事了。”

大卫…就心中自责,数点百姓以后,他向雅威说:“我做这事大有罪了,现在雅威啊,求祢除掉祢仆人的罪孽,因我所行的甚是愚昧。”

And David's heart smote him after he had numbered the people. And David said to Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in what I have done; but now, O Jehovah, put away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.

David was conscience-stricken after he had counted the fighting men, and he said to the Lord , "I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, O Lord , I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing."

הָלֹ֞וךְ וְדִבַּרְתָּ֣ אֶל־דָּוִ֗ד כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שָׁלֹ֕שׁ אָנֹכִ֖י נֹוטֵ֣ל עָלֶ֑יךָ בְּחַר־לְךָ֥ אַֽחַת־מֵהֶ֖םוְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה־לָּֽךְ׃
R
Go and speak to David, Thus says Jehovah, I am offering you three things; choose one of them, that I may do it to you.

于是迦得来见大卫,通知他,问他说:“你愿意你这地有三(传统:七)年饥荒呢?还是你在敌人面前逃跑、而他追赶着你三个月呢?抑或在你这地有三天的瘟疫呢?现在你要思想、要看清楚我该用什么话去回复那差遣我的。”

So Gad went to David and told him these things. And he said to him, Shall seven years of famine come upon you in your land? And Araunah said to David, May my lord the king take and offer up whatever seems good in his sight. Look, the oxen for the burnt offering and the threshing instruments and the yokes for the oxen for the wood —

And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

And Araunah said to David, Let my lord the king take and offer up that which is good in his sight: see, [here are] oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing-sledges and implements of the oxen for wood.

But the king said to Araunah, No; but I will surely buy it from you for a price, and I will not offer to Jehovah my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

But the king replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing." So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them.
