R
Then the whole assembly lifted up their voice and cried, and the people wept that night.

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron; and the whole assembly said to them, If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness!

וְלָמָ֣ה יְ֠הוָה מֵבִ֨יא אֹתָ֜נוּ אֶל־הָאָ֤רֶץ הַזֹּאת֙ לִנְפֹּ֣ל בַּחֶ֔רֶב נָשֵׁ֥ינוּ וְטַפֵּ֖נוּ יִהְי֣וּ לָבַ֑ז הֲלֹ֧וא טֹ֦ובלָ֖נוּ שׁ֥וּב מִצְרָֽיְמָה׃
R
And why does Jehovah bring us into this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become plunder. Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?

And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

And why is Jehovah bringing us to this land that we may fall by the sword, that our wives and our little ones may become a prey? Is it not better for us to return to Egypt?

And they said one to another, Let us appoint a captain, and let us return to Egypt.

If Jehovah is pleased with us, He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with milk and honey.

אַ֣ךְ בַּֽיהוָה֮ אַל־תִּמְרֹדוּ֒ וְאַתֶּ֗ם אַל־תִּֽירְאוּ֙ אֶת־עַ֣ם הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֥י לַחְמֵ֖נוּ הֵ֑ם סָ֣ר צִלָּ֧ם מֵעֲלֵיהֶ֛םוַֽיהוָ֥ה אִתָּ֖נוּ אַל־תִּירָאֻֽם׃
R
Only do not rebel against Jehovah, nor should you fear the people of the land, for they are our bread. Their protection has been removed from them, and Jehovah is with us; do not fear them.

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ כָּל־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה לִרְגֹּ֥ום אֹתָ֖ם בָּאֲבָנִ֑ים וּכְבֹ֣וד יְהוָ֗ה נִרְאָה֙ בְּאֹ֣הֶל מֹועֵ֔ד אֶֽל־כָּל־בְּנֵ֖ייִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פ

But the whole assembly said to stone them with stones. Then the glory of Jehovah appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the children of Israel.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה עַד־אָ֥נָה יְנַאֲצֻ֖נִי הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה וְעַד־אָ֨נָה֙ לֹא־יַאֲמִ֣ינוּ בִ֔י בְּכֹל֙הָֽאֹתֹ֔ות אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֖יתִי בְּקִרְבֹּֽו׃
R
And Jehovah said to Moses, How long will this people despise Me? And how long will they not believe in Me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them?

And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

And Jehovah said to Moses, How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe me, for all the signs which I have done among them?

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Until when doth this people despise Me? and until when do they not believe in Me, for all the signs which I have done in its midst?

The Lord said to Moses, "How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them?

我要用瘟疫击杀他们，使他们不得承受那地；我要使你成为大国，比他们强盛。
和
我要用瘟疫击杀他们，使他们不得承受那地，叫你的后裔成为大国，比他们强胜。”

אַכֶּ֥נּוּ בַדֶּ֖בֶר וְאֹורִשֶׁ֑נּוּ וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה֙ אֹֽתְךָ֔ לְגֹוי־גָּדֹ֥ול וְעָצ֖וּם מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
R
I will strike them with pestilence and dispossess them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.

I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

摩西对雅威说：“埃及人必听见这事；因为你曾施展大能，将这百姓从他们中间领上来。

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶל־יְהוָ֑ה וְשָׁמְע֣וּ מִצְרַ֔יִם כִּֽי־הֶעֱלִ֧יתָ בְכֹחֲךָ֛ אֶת־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה מִקִּרְבֹּֽו׃
R
But Moses said to Jehovah, Then the Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your might You brought this people up from their midst,

And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)
D
And Moses said to Jehovah, Then the Egyptians will hear it; for in thy might thou broughtest up this people from the midst of them;
Y
And Moses saith unto Jehovah, 'Then have the Egyptians heard! for Thou hast brought up with Thy power this people out of their midst,
I
Moses said to the Lord , "Then the Egyptians will hear about it! By your power you brought these people up from among them.

埃及人必将这事告诉这地的居民；他们已经听见，你耶和华是在这百姓中间；因为耶和华啊，你面对面被人看见，你的云彩停在他们以上；你日间在云柱中，夜间在火柱中，在他们前面行。
和
埃及人要将这事传给迦南地的居民，那民已经听见你耶和华是在这百姓中间，因为你面对面被人看见，有你的云彩停在他们以上。你日间在云柱中，夜间在火柱中，在他们前面行。

埃及人也必告诉那地的居民。那地的居民也曾听见你耶和华是在这人民中间，你耶和华曾面对面的向人显现，你的云彩常停在他们上面；日间你在云柱中，夜间你在火柱中，走在他们前面。

他们将说什么？这地方的居民也曾听说：你上主是在这民族中；你上主曾面对面地发显出来，你的云彩常停在他们上面；白日你乘云柱，黑夜你乘火柱，走在他们前面。
吕
他们早已听见永恒主你在这人民中间、永恒主你亲眼相对地看见，你的云彩停在他们上头，你在他们前面领路、日间在云柱中、而夜间在火柱中。

埃及人要将这事传给迦南地的居民；那民已经听见你──雅威是在这百姓中间；因为你──雅威面对面被人看见，有你的云彩停在他们以上。你日间在云柱中，…在他们前面行。夜间在火柱中，

וְאָמְר֗וּ אֶל־יֹושֵׁב֮ הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּאת֒ שָֽׁמְעוּ֙ כִּֽי־אַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה בְּקֶ֖רֶב הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה אֲשֶׁר־עַ֨יִן בְּעַ֜יִןנִרְאָ֣ה׀ אַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֗ה וַעֲנָֽנְךָ֙ עֹמֵ֣ד עֲלֵהֶ֔ם וּבְעַמֻּ֣ד עָנָ֗ן אַתָּ֨ה הֹלֵ֤ךְ לִפְנֵיהֶם֙ יֹומָ֔ם וּבְעַמּ֥וּד אֵ֖שׁלָֽיְלָה׃
R
And they will tell the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, Jehovah, are in the midst of this people; for You, O Jehovah, are seen in plain sight, and Your cloud stands over them, and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.

And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

and they have said it unto the inhabitant of this land, they have heard that Thou, Jehovah, art in the midst of this people, that eye to eye Thou art seen -- O Jehovah, and Thy cloud is standing over them, -- and in a pillar of cloud Thou art going before them by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.
I
And they will tell the inhabitants of this land about it. They have already heard that you, O Lord , are with these people and that you, O Lord , have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

如今你若把这百姓杀了，如杀一人，那些听见你名声的列国必议论说，

Because Jehovah was not able to bring this people into the land which He swore to give them, He has therefore slaughtered them in the wilderness.

How long shall I bear with this evil assembly, which murmurs against Me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they are making against Me.

Your corpses shall fall in this wilderness, and none of you who were numbered, according to the number you counted from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against Me,

In this desert your bodies will fall-every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me.

R
I, Jehovah, have spoken; surely I will do this to all this evil assembly who are gathered together against Me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

And the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made the whole assembly to murmur against him by bringing up an evil report against the land,

That is, those men who brought up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Jehovah.

Only Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive out of those men who went to spy out the land.

And they rose up early in the morning to go up to the top of the mountain, saying, Here we are; now we will go up to the place which Jehovah has spoken of, for we have sinned.

R
But Moses said, Why do you again transgress the commandment of Jehovah? This will not succeed.

And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper.

And Moses said, Why now do ye transgress the commandment of Jehovah? but it shall not prosper!

And Moses saith, 'Why is this? -- ye are transgressing the command of Jehovah, and it doth not prosper;

But Moses said, "Why are you disobeying the Lord 's command? This will not succeed!

Do not go up — for Jehovah is not among you — so that you are not struck down before your enemies.

For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and you shall fall by the sword. Because you have turned back from following Jehovah, therefore Jehovah will not be with you.

But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain, even though neither the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah nor Moses had departed out of the midst of the camp.
