我又看：在日光之下、赛跑未必给轻快的先跑到，战争未必给勇士得胜利，粮食也未必给智慧人得着，财富未必给明达人赚得到，恩宠也未必给有知识的人博得着：他们所碰到的就只是定时与机会。

我转而察看日光之下，快跑的未必能赢；强壮的未必得胜；智慧的未必得粮食；聪明的未必得财富；有学问的未必得喜悦；因为时运和机会临到众人。

原来人也不知道自己的定期，像被恶网圈住的鱼，被网罗捉住的鸟，…世人陷在其中也是如此。祸患忽然临到的时候，

For even man knoweth not his time; as fish that are taken hold of by an evil net, and as birds that are taken hold of by a snare, like these are the sons of man snared at an evil time, when it falleth upon them suddenly.

Moreover, no man knows when his hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net, or birds are taken in a snare, so men are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them.

我也见日光之下有一件事乃是智慧，据我看是大的，

我见日光之下有一样智慧，据我看乃是广大。

在日光之下，我又看见一样智慧，觉得很有意义：

在太阳下我又得了一个智慧的经验，依我看来，大有意义：

以下这一项在日光之下我也看见，是智慧的例子；在我看来大有意义。

This also I have seen as wisdom under the sun, and it seemed great to me.

I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me:

就是有一小城，其中的人数稀少，有大君王来攻击，将城围困，修筑高垒攻打。

就是有一小城，其中的人数稀少，有大君王来攻击，修筑营垒，将城围困。

有一座小城，人数不多；有一个大君王来进攻，把它包围，建造巨大的高垒攻城。

有座小城，里面居民不多；有位大王来攻打此城，把城围住，周围筑了高垒。

There was a small city with a few men in it; and a great king came against it and surrounded it and built great siegeworks against it.

And in it there was found a poor wise man, and he delivered the city by his wisdom; yet no one remembered that poor man.

我就说，智慧胜过勇力；然而那贫穷人的智慧被人藐视，他的话也无人听从。

So I said, Wisdom is better than strength; but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heard.

Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength; but the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

And I said, 'Better is wisdom than might, and the wisdom of the poor is despised, and his words are not heard.' --

So I said, "Wisdom is better than strength." But the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

智慧人在安静中所说的话，比掌权者在愚昧人中的喊声更有人听。

宁可在安静之中听智慧人的言语，不听掌管愚昧人的喊声。

听智慧人安安静静说出来的话，胜过听管理愚昧者的人的喊叫。

智者温和的言语，比王者在愚人中的呐喊，更受欢迎。

智慧人的话安安静静地有人听，胜过掌管者在愚昧人之中的喊叫声。

在安静之中听智慧人的言语，胜过听统治者在愚昧人中的喊声。

דִּבְרֵ֣י חֲכָמִ֔ים בְּנַ֖חַת נִשְׁמָעִ֑ים מִזַּעֲקַ֥ת מֹושֵׁ֖ל בַּכְּסִילִֽים׃

The words of the wise spoken quietly are heeded more than the shouting of a ruler among fools.

The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.

The words of the wise are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.

The words of the wise in quiet are heard, More than the cry of a ruler over fools.

The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools.

智慧胜过打仗的兵器；但一个罪人能败坏许多善事。
