This second letter, beloved, I now write to you; in them both I stir up your sincere mind with a reminder,

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

This, a second letter, beloved, I already write to you, in [both] which I stir up, in the way of putting you in remembrance, your pure mind,

This, now, beloved, a second letter to you I write, in both which I stir up your pure mind in reminding you,

Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking.

μνησθῆναι τῶν προειρημένων ῥημάτων ὑπὸ τῶν ἁγίων προφητῶν καὶ τῆς τῶν ἀποστόλων ὑμῶν ἐντολῆς τοῦ κυρίου καὶ σωτῆρος.

So that you would remember the words spoken before by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior preached by your apostles;

That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

to be mindful of the words spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Saviour by your apostles;

I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

第一要知道，在末后的日子，必有好讥诮的人，带着讥诮而来，随从自己的私欲而行，并说，

τοῦτο πρῶτον γινώσκοντες ὅτι ἐλεύσονται ἐπ᾽ ἐσχάτων τῶν ἡμερῶν ἐν ἐμπαιγμονῇ ἐμπαῖκται κατὰ τὰς ἰδίας ἐπιθυμίας αὐτῶν πορευόμενοι

Knowing this first, that in the last of days mockers will come with mocking, going on according to their own lusts

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

knowing this first, that there shall come at [the] close of the days mockers with mocking, walking according to their own lusts,

this first knowing, that there shall come in the latter end of the days scoffers, according to their own desires going on,

First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

καὶ λέγοντες, Ποῦ ἐστιν ἡ ἐπαγγελία τῆς παρουσίας αὐτοῦ; ἀφ᾽ ἧς γὰρ οἱ πατέρες ἐκοιμήθησαν, πάντα οὕτως διαμένει ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς κτίσεως.

And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue in this way from the beginning of creation.

They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation."

For this escapes them by their own choosing, that by the word of God the heavens were of old and the earth was compacted out of water and through water,

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

For this is hidden from them through their own wilfulness, that heavens were of old, and an earth, having its subsistence out of water and in water, by the word of God,

for this is unobserved by them willingly, that the heavens were of old, and the earth out of water and through water standing together by the word of God,

But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water.

Through which the world then, being flooded with water, perished.

οἱ δὲ νῦν οὐρανοὶ καὶ ἡ γῆ τῷ αὐτῷ λόγῳ τεθησαυρισμένοι εἰσὶν πυρὶ τηρούμενοι εἰς ἡμέραν κρίσεως καὶ ἀπωλείας τῶν ἀσεβῶν ἀνθρώπων.

But the heavens and the earth now, by the same word, have been stored up for fire, being kept unto the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

But the present heavens and the earth by his word are laid up in store, kept for fire unto a day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

Ἓν δὲ τοῦτο μὴ λανθανέτω ὑμᾶς, ἀγαπητοί, ὅτι μία ἡμέρα παρὰ κυρίῳ ὡς χίλια ἔτη καὶ χίλια ἔτη ὡς ἡμέρα μία.

But do not let this one thing escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

But let not this one thing be hidden from you, beloved, that one day with [the] Lord [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

And this one thing let not be unobserved by you, beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day;

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

主所应许的，祂并不耽延，像有些人以为祂耽延一样；其实祂乃是宽容你们，不愿任何人遭毁坏，乃愿人人都趋前悔改。

主所应许的尚未成就，有人以为他是耽延，其实不是耽延，乃是宽容你们，不愿有一人沉沦，乃愿人人都悔改。

主决不耽延他的应许，像有些人以为他是耽延的一样；其实他是宽容你们，不愿有一人灭亡，却愿人人都悔改。

主决不迟延他的应许，有如某些人所想像的；其实是他对你们含忍，不愿任何人丧亡，只愿众人回心转意。

关于所应许的、主并不耽延，像有些人就看为耽延了；不，他乃是以恒忍待你们的；他不愿有人灭亡，惟愿人人都进到悔改的地步。

οὐ βραδύνει κύριος τῆς ἐπαγγελίας, ὥς τινες βραδύτητα ἡγοῦνται, ἀλλὰ μακροθυμεῖ εἰς ὑμᾶς μὴ βουλόμενός τινας ἀπολέσθαι ἀλλὰ πάντας εἰς μετάνοιαν χωρῆσαι.

The Lord does not delay regarding the promise, as some count delay, but is long-suffering toward you, not intending that any perish but that all advance to repentance.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

[The] Lord does not delay his promise, as some account of delay, but is longsuffering towards you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

the Lord is not slow in regard to the promise, as certain count slowness, but is long-suffering to us, not counselling any to be lost but all to pass on to reformation,

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

只是主的日子要像贼一样来到；在那日，诸天必轰然一声地过去，所有的元素都要被焚烧而销化，地和其上的工程也都要烧尽了。
和
但主的日子要像贼来到一样，那日，天必大有响声废去，有形质的都要被烈火销化，地和其上的物都要烧尽了。

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the elements, burning with intense heat, will be dissolved, and the earth and the works in it will be burned up.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

But the day of [the] Lord will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall be dissolved, and [the] earth and the works in it shall be burnt up.

and it will come -- the day of the Lord -- as a thief in the night, in which the heavens with a rushing noise will pass away, and the elements with burning heat be dissolved, and earth and the works in it shall be burnt up.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

这一切既然都要如此销化，你们该当怎样为人，有圣别的生活和敬虔，

τούτων οὕτως πάντων λυομένων ποταποὺς δεῖ ὑπάρχειν ὑμᾶς ἐν ἁγίαις ἀναστροφαῖς καὶ εὐσεβείαις,

Since all these things are to be thus dissolved, what kind of persons ought you to be in holy manner of life and godliness,

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

All these things then being to be dissolved, what ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness,

All these, then, being dissolved, what kind of persons doth it behove you to be in holy behaviours and pious acts?
I
Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives

期待并催促神的日子来临？因着那日子的来临，诸天被火烧就销化了，所有的元素都要被焚烧而熔化。
和
切切仰望神的日子来到。在那日，天被火烧就销化了，有形质的都要被烈火熔化。

等候并催促神的日子降临呢？因为在那日，天要被火焚烧就融化了，所有元素都因烈火而融解！
思
以等候并催促天主日子的来临！在这日子上，天要为火所焚毁，所有的原质也要因烈火而溶化；

来期待、来催促上帝日子之来临呢？为了这个、天必被火烧着而消毁，星辰必因烈炽而才化。

προσδοκῶντας καὶ σπεύδοντας τὴν παρουσίαν τῆς τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμέρας δι᾽ ἣν οὐρανοὶ πυρούμενοι λυθήσονται καὶ στοιχεῖα καυσούμενα τήκεται.

Expecting and hastening the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens, being on fire, will be dissolved, and the elements, burning with intense heat, are to be melted away?

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, by reason of which [the] heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall melt?

waiting for and hasting to the presence of the day of God, by which the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and the elements with burning heat shall melt;
I
as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.

但我们照祂的应许，期待新天新地，有义居住在其中。
和
但我们照他的应许，盼望新天新地，有义居在其中。

καινοὺς δὲ οὐρανοὺς καὶ γῆν καινὴν κατὰ τὸ ἐπάγγελμα αὐτοῦ προσδοκῶμεν ἐν οἷς δικαιοσύνη κατοικεῖ.

But according to His promise we are expecting new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

But, according to his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.

and for new heavens and a new earth according to His promise we do wait, in which righteousness doth dwell;
I
But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

所以，亲爱的，你们既期待这些事，就当殷勤，得在平安中给主看为无斑点、无瑕疵的；

亲爱的弟兄啊，你们既盼望这些事，就当殷勤，使自己没有玷污，无可指摘，安然见主。

所以，亲爱的，你们既然等候这些事，就当殷勤努力，使你们没有污点，没有瑕疵，安然见主。
思
为此，亲爱的诸位，你们既然等候这一切，就应该勉力，使他见到你们没有玷污，没有瑕疵，安然无惧；

所以亲爱的，你们既期待这些事，就该竭力尽心、让他看为无玷污、无瑕疵、在宁静中的。

Διό, ἀγαπητοί, ταῦτα προσδοκῶντες σπουδάσατε ἄσπιλοι καὶ ἀμώμητοι αὐτῷ εὑρεθῆναι ἐν εἰρήνῃ

Therefore, beloved, since you expect these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace without spot and without blemish;
K
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
D
Wherefore, beloved, as ye wait for these things, be diligent to be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless;
Y
wherefore, beloved, these things waiting for, be diligent, spotless and unblameable, by Him to be found in peace,
I
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

并且要以我们主的恒忍为得救的机会，就像我们所亲爱的弟兄保罗，照着所赐给他的智慧，也写了信给你们；

并且要以我主长久忍耐为得救的因由，就如我们所亲爱的兄弟保罗，照着所赐给他的智慧写了信给你们。

And count the long-suffering of our Lord to be salvation, even as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you,

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

and account the longsuffering of our Lord [to be] salvation; according as our beloved brother Paul also has written to you according to the wisdom given to him,

and the long-suffering of our Lord count ye salvation, according as also our beloved brother Paul -- according to the wisdom given to him -- did write to you,

Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.

As also in all his letters, speaking in them concerning these things, in which some things are hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable twist, as also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

所以，亲爱的，你们既然预先知道了，就当防备，免得被不法之人的错谬带走，就从自己坚固的地步上坠落。

You therefore, beloved, since you know these things beforehand, be on your guard lest being carried away by the error of the lawless, you fall from your own steadfastness.

Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.
